Description
Watercolor drawing on paper of a single fungus in shades of pinkish-brown, lavender, and beige, accompanied by column of text, in pencil, to right of page: the fungus measures 4 5/8" in height and 3 1/8" across cap; convex cap appears highly textured with numerous tiny strokes of pinkish-brown; lavender gills are partially visible beneath right edge of cap; thick stalk is shaded in pinkish brown and curves to the right.
1. Pileus obtusely convex becoming expanded / very irregular pinkish brown, hygrophorus [sic] / becoming much broken up & scaly when dry. / margin wavy irregular- / 2. Lamellae brownish lavender, wide / thick, subdistant, adnate, but / readily separating from the stipe / inserted / 3. Spores, white / 4. Stipe tough fibrous, concolorous - / paler + enlarged above + below- / striate when drying. / Gregarious in mossy ground / on path in light woods / M.P. / Annandale Aug 1922- / N.Y. / .4 / Laccarea [sic] ochrapurpurea [sic].
