Watercolor drawing on paper of two fungi in shades of smoky brown, grey, and white, accompanied by text, in pencil, to the right: specimen to the right measures 4 3/4 inches in height and has a lobed or saddle-shaped cap with inrolled margins; the interior is a smoky brown shade; exterior of cap is white with grey shading; slender white stem curves to the right and is shaded with pale grey and beige; specimen to the left measures 5 inches in height and has a lobed or saddle-shaped cap in dove grey color; slender white stem curves to the left, and is shaded with pale beige; both terminate in a few strokes of brown; text to the right reads as follows: "Helvella elastica / Growing on much decaying wood / of wet bank- / Pileus fawny on the outside, very / white underneath, and somewhat/ granular in appearance- / Stem very slender, pure white at / the top, yellowish brown at / the lower part- hollow / Buck Hill Falls / Pa. / Sept 29 1919" ; at upper right corner, "127".
