Description
Watercolor drawing on paper of two fungi in shades of reddish-brown accompanied by text in pencil, on right side of page, enumerating the taxonomy: the specimen on the right measures 3 1/2 inches in height and has a broad, somewhat flattened convex cap, measuring 3 1/8 inches across; the cap is brown with visible attached gills delineated by fine, closely spaced brown lines; the stalk is creamy white with beige and brown shading; the smaller specimen on the left measures 2 7/8 inches in height and has a broad convex cap measuring 2 3/8 inches across; no gills are visible.

Pileus convex to expanded- silky / fibrillose, dry or slightly viscid / rugose / when moist reddish brown, wrinkled / deeper on the umbo, hygrophorous / margin then silky with remnants / of the thin white veil- / 2. Spores Purple brown / 3. Lamellae- lightish brown becoming / darker with age, rather / wide, sinuate adnate, or / decurrent with a tooth, margin / somewhat wavy- & whitish / close but not crowded / 4. Stipe, tapering above silky / fibrous white shiny, fibrous / stuffed or becoming hollow. / Taste pleasant. / Singly on log in deep woods- / MP Annandale N.Y. / Aug 8-1925.- no 1. / Hypholoma
