Donaldson, Robert, 1800-1872
This engraving served as the frontispiece for Andrew Jackson Downing’s Treatise on Landscape Gardening and Rural Architecture. This shows the exterior of Donaldson’s Blithewood. The house faced the river and featured a broad, trellised porch that expanded the living area of the house, and brought people outside to enjoy the beauty of the landscape.
